We are a group of musicians, singers and arrangers in Hong Kong who have come together to explore and promote contemporary South Asian music. Why? Because we feel that Hong Kong doesn’t have an outlet for young performers to explore this genre of music or collaborate with like-minded musicians across cultures or genres. And so, we’ve created a non-profit platform for budding and experienced musicians alike to bring their art to the local music scene.
MEET THE ORGANISERS
Director & Curator
THE GIRL WITH THE VISION.
Supriya envisioned the idea for the group, brought this incredible team of artistes and organisers together and has worked tirelessly to make things happen. Whether handling music direction and curation, or planning and oversight for all other aspects of the show, she is the backbone of this production. Passionate about both Hindi and English music, Supriya learned heaps about managing a music group when she helped to found a thriving a cappella group at Cornell University a few years ago. She has performed in, and assisted closely with the production of, numerous music events in the US and Hong Kong.
Head of Finance
NOT JUST STRICTLY BUSINESS.
Aside from managing funds, making sense of excel sheets and keeping a strict eye on budgets, Muskaan has been instrumental in raising funds for our first show. Outside of TZP, she was previously head of business development for an edu-tech startup. She now assists with BD for her family owned businesses and is mommy to a beautiful little girl. Oh, and she is also a singer, dancer and performer. Go figure. With a strong background in events management in Canada and Hong Kong, Muskaan most recently served as assistant producer for In Harmony, a novel music show that debuted in HK last year.
Head of Operations
Radhika somehow finds time to be in all places at once, makes sure every tiny thing is in place and basically saves the day, everyday. In addition to performing for and helping curate the show, she handles everything from logistics, location scouting, scheduling, admin management, marketing, and music arrangement. When not living and breathing Riyaaz, she teaches English to some lucky students at a secondary school in Hong Kong. She has been involved in a range of shows and open mics in the Hong Kong jazz circuit and has sung for RTHK radio.
Head of Marketing
Aparna works to cultivate our brand and to facilitate collaborations between The Zero Point and leading venues, music ventures and festivals around Hong Kong, from Sofar Sounds, to Foxglove, to India by the Bay. Aside from astute observational and analytical skills, she is blessed with a sweet, alluring voice that brings harmony to Bollywood numbers old and new. Prior to joining The Zero Point, she has trained in Carnatic music and performed with local choir groups such as Tharangini. When not working her magic for us, Aparna works as a Marketing Executive at a leading investment bank, and an avid tennis player.
