The Zero Point is an ensemble of musicians, singers and arrangers that have come together to explore and promote contemporary South Asian music in Hong Kong. We strive to give a platform to budding musicians from diverse musical backgrounds to collaborate, perform and develop their musicianship.
Our performances feature original arrangements of the best tunes from Bollywood and beyond, including Sufi, folk, Punjabi, Hindustani classical, jazz, funk, rock, pop, R&B and soul music.
Growing up, many of us were influenced by the rich musical traditions of India, Pakistan and the West and, so, our name originates from a train station called “The Zero Point” on the border of India and Pakistan. We view it as a crossroads between two nations that are bound together by music, and a point of confluence between different cultures, genres and rhythms.
